I "Kan Du" the Dukan Diet!

So, I just weighed myself at work, and with clothes and a couple cups of tea in me, I came in at 153.0lbs. 6.8lbs down from the previous (my first) weigh-in. The next one should be towards the end of September. Hopefully, I’ll be close to my True Weight by then!

There’s nothing like walking into the kitchen at work at 9am on a Monday morning, and being face to face with a huge chocolate cake. Someone musta had some twins over the weekend because of the pink/blue color palette of the frosting that was laid on an inch thick. However, since I already felt pretty shitty about the lack of progress or motivation over the past two weeks, I didn’t even feel tempted.

To be honest, I completely had the fuck-its yesterday and ate everything in sight. Luckily, I had no nutella in the house, or peanut butter. I had some fiber granola bars, two pieces of garlic toast, some Alpen, and a little pasta. Kill me now? Ugh. I dunno what came over me. Oh well. All that hasn’t affected my weight quite yet, but I suppose it’ll take a day or two to work its way into my body’s cells. I really need to purge my kitchen inventory of all things I can’t eat. Argh. However, eating all that heavy stuff yesterday helped me with elimination.

So, where to go from here? I have ladies’ weekend coming up and I do want to redeem myself. So for the next 5 days: ATTACK PHASE.

  • From now on, I’m not going to necessarily name eat post by the day of whatever phase. It’s just boring. I’ll put that info in the Daily Stats section.
  • Today is the last day that I can weigh myself in for the quarterly time period for the incentive program at work. I am wearing jeans and binged on carbs yesterday. I might as well do it anyway…
  • I will be cheating during Ladies’ Weekend. I will bring my own healthier or lower-carbs burger buns or whatever.

So, I was at the mall with my man on Friday evening. We had planned to go to Outback for dins, which can be Dukan Diet friendly, and on our way to the restaurant, I thought to myself “fuck it, I’m going to enjoy myself a little”. And so I did. I had my prime rib, which, if trimmed, can be fine for my diet, but I shared their version of buffalo wings, Kookaberra Wings, with Adam. They are slightly breaded, and immensely improved by dipping them into their amazing ranch dressing. My steak came with a house salad, which I also drenched with ranch dressing. Oh well. Luckily, I was so full by the end of my steak that I didn’t have room for their Chocolate Thunder from Down Under.

Dieting during the weekend is so hard for me. Sitting around all day, letting my mind marinate on the idea of eating something naughty. Like right now, I am craving some a nice peanut butter and jelly sandwich or a taylor-ham-egg-and-cheese-on-an-everything-bagel (totally a New Jersey thing…) Damn you, carbs!! And being half-Japanese, giving up white rice is really tough for me. What food is the most tough for you to give up? If you could have one food in any quantity without any repercussions, what would it be? For me, it’s a toss up between rice and nutella or peanut butter…

Another day of gain. Starting today, I will do the 2/1 PP/PV rotation. My body seems to hold onto water, so maybe this will help my weight loss be more consistent. Yesterday, a PV day (I write these posts the following morning, ie it’s Day 14 for me right now), I decided to treat myself to a nice Indian lunch. I ordered Murgh Tikka chicken (white meat chicken baked in a Tandoori…so amazing…) and the Chicken Tikka Masala curry (the guy at the restaurant seemed perturbed by the fact I didn’t want any rice or roti with it…) which was equally amazing. However, I think the curry had some cream in it (judging by the fact that my cat thoroughly enjoyed the leftovers I brought home…) so next time, I will probably order just the Murgh Tikka.

Next weekend is Ladies’ Weekend. My original goal of 10lbs loss doesn’t seem feasible at this point, so I will edit that goal to a loss of 8lbs. Let’s go me!

I’m not sure that Boston’s waters will be warm enough for full immersion by next weekend, but I will look for a new bathing suit anyway. I always feel like I’m showing too much boob… damn you, teeny little triangle patches! I was looking at the selection of bikinis on the Victoria’s Secret website and I felt uncomfortable just thinking about how my breasts would be one enthusiastic arm-raise away from full exposure. It’s a shame, because they have such cute little suits!

Ah, so close to being back in the 140s! I’ve been on the Dukan Diet for about 2.5 weeks now, and I can say that my day-to-day weight loss is much less significant than during my first week or so. I knew that this was bound to happen, since I’ve probably lost all the excess water my cells have been holding onto. Now, my body is slowing starting to eat up the excess fat, which I can understand will happen at a slower pace. A couple people also on the Dukan Diet have taken the 2 day PP/ 1 day PV approach during their Cruise Phase. Perhaps I’ll adopt this for a few cycles and see if it makes a difference.  Overall, though – I feel great and have gotten a bit of my self-confidence back!

At work, we have an incentive program that pays you if you lose weight! There are 4 official weigh-ins per year, and there is one this week! I started this job back in February and the first weigh-in I did was mid-March – and I came in at 159.8lbs. Granted, I was wearing clothes ( a light dress, sans shoes), but when I weigh-in tomorrow or whenever, I will have lost just under 10 pounds. Sweet! I’m not sure how much mulla I’ll get for it (probably not too much!), but I’ll take it :) Perhaps it will be a good idea to wear the same dress when I decide to step on the scale again.

Does anyone else consistently gain weight on PV days? I seem to. But the good news is that today’s weight is tied for second-lowest and that is after a Protein + Veggie day. So I am hoping for something MAYBE below 150.0 tomorrow morning! Bad news: I left the house for work late this morning (I straightened my hair – seemly in vain as it was humid as shit outside and my car doesn’t have a/c) and forgot to grab my yogurt from the fridge. As many fellow Dukaners mention – you have to be prepared to be successful with this diet. I did have two little things of sugar/fat free jello in the fridge at work, but they have mysteriously disappeared. What the fuck. Seriously. There was a platter of fruit and sugar-pumped (albeit fat free) yogurt, so I grabbed a banana. I’m not sure if I will eat it yet, though – we all know that fruit is off limits until the Consolidation Phase (I should start that phase in the beginning of September, hopefully). I might pop out real quick to Trader Joe’s and buy some yogurt or pre-boiled eggs – not sure yet.  I did a quick search for banana nutrition facts ( for a small, 6.5 incher) and here’s what I got:

Perhaps I’ll just eat half and stick it out til lunch. Argh. Since I didn’t bring lunch either, I will need to go out. Could either find something at Boston Market or find a grocery nearby and buy some deli meats or something. Not sure yet! Luckily my office is right on a main highway (Rte. 17) so there is no shortage of choices (and temptations).

I made a nice turkey chilli last night. 1lb turkey, can of cherry tomatoes, half can of white beans, half can of black beans, half jar of salsa, and half a packet of chilli seasoning (to keep sodium levels down) and a crap load of crush red pepper. I just kinda threw everything in without measuring  – chilli is very forgiving that way. Now, I know that beans are technically illegal at this point, but they’re fat-free and the whole recipe makes like 8 cups of chilli, so I figure I can get away with it – couldn’t have been more than 1/3 cup of beans in the portion I ate. Used fat-free yogurt instead of sour cream for a garnish. Seriously, is basically the same.

I think I will be making more of this in the future. It’s very hearty and filling and delicious!

I tried to find a picture of a celeb that kinda has a similar body type that I do. I am not AS curvy (less booty) as Ms. Kardashian, but I definitely have an hourglass figure. I’m a size C cup and I have hips that will probably be conducive to birthing. My torso is a bit shorter as well. But anyway, I would love to look like this at around my True Weight. Who is your celeb bikini inspiration??

Woohoo! My lowest weight yet :) I can’t wait to be below 150lb. 11 day until Ladies’ Weekend – can I lose another 4 pounds by then?? That’s a little more than 2lbs/week, which isn’t usually advised, but if it happens, it happens! I’m in a great mood today because of my record setting poop yesterday when I got home – I even left 30 minutes early from work because I couldn’t stand it anymore. However, I didn’t take a lunch break, so I figure it evens out. This is gross, but I weighed myself prior and after I went to the bathroom… and I LOST 1.4 POUNDS in a matter of five minutes. Hahaha…

Okay, so I definitely put on some water weight on my PV days. So I’m hoping that the same things happen like last time – where I step on the scale after a PP day and see a nice decrease in weight. I’m fairly certain that it will happen because I HAVE TO POOP SO BAD. I haven’t pooped for like a week. And because I have to poop so bad, I don’t feel like eating anything today. I’m dying –  I can’t poop for another six hours because I’m at the office and I don’t like pooping here – I don’t want to scar co-workers with the sounds of titanic shits hitting the toilet water. I will be in elation around 6:15pm!

I am a 26 year-old girl from New Jersey who is looking to lose about 26 pounds so I can look great again! My starting weight is 156.6 pounds and I'm hoping to get back to 130 pounds.

In order to achieve my goal, I am utilizing the Dukan Diet, and according to the calculations made by the True Weight Calculator on the Dukan website said that I should be able to reach my target weight by the beginning of September 2011.

Dukan Diet Quick Facts

The goal of the Dukan Diet is to go from a restricted diet back to normal eating patterns, and be able to sustain your target weight the rest of your life.


The diet is divided up into four phases:


Attack Phase: Lasts about five days, and your diet is restricted to pure and lean proteins.


Cruise Phase: Lasts until you reach your target weight. Alternates between Pure Protein days and Pure Protein + Veggie days.


Consolidation Phase: For every pound you lost multiplied by five, that is the number of days you will need to consolidate your diet. During this phase, you start to reintroduce fruits, breads & rices, and cheeses.


Stabilization Phase: Go back to your normal eating patterns, but make sure you assign one day a week as a Pure Protein day.
